The ACLP was pleased to participate in the Agridées conference “Semences et stratégies internationales” on 13 May 2026 in Paris, which brought together representatives from across the seed sector to discuss the international competitiveness of plant breeding, evolving regulatory frameworks, intellectual property, and the future of innovation. The event was built around the publication of the strategic report “Seeds Thrive in a Risky Environment,” in which Agridées has identified the major developments over the past decade in the French seed sector.
During the panel discussion, ACLP Managing Director Hélène Guillot was joined by RAGT CEO Laurent Guerreiro, Limagrain Strategic Advisor Régis Fournier and Sakata CEO France Basile du Barry. Hélène Guillot presented the platform as a practical, industry-led solution that facilitates access to patented traits through transparent and predictable licensing. Discussions highlighted the importance of ensuring that breeders of all sizes can continue to access innovative technologies while maintaining incentives for research and investment. Basile du Barry presented the ILP, the International Licensing Platform for Vegetables, functioning on the same model than the ACLP.
“As innovation in plant breeding continues to accelerate, practical licensing solutions are essential to ensure that patented traits remain accessible to all breeders. ACLP was created by the seed sector to provide a transparent, efficient and fair framework that supports both innovation and competition,” said Hélène Guillot.
The conference attracted a broad audience of seed sector professionals and policy makers, providing valuable opportunities to exchange views on current challenges and future developments. ACLP welcomed the interest expressed by participants in collaborative approaches to access patented traits and looks forward to continuing the dialogue with breeders and other stakeholders.
